Double-layered oak, 1954. The Swedish-built trawler, which has ploughed oceans and seas for half a century, deserves a new life as the White Ship of Art. Brought from Finland to the port of Noblessner, the 500-horsepower vessel, now awaiting its exciting new life in the port of Miiduranna, is to be rebuilt. During the construction, the ship’s beam and deck will be restored. An innovative hydrogen engine will be installed on board in collaboration with Taltech scientists.
An exciting and as yet untapped opportunity is that an art ship could be used to take exhibitions to ports around the world, not only in Scandinavia but also in Ireland, the Netherlands and elsewhere.
The ship’s home ports will be Kihnu and Dirham.
